The Use Of The English Language In Academic Publishing By Researchers From The Laboratory Of “water Use Efficiency In Agriculture” Of The National Higher School Of Agriculture-algiers

Abstract
This paper reports an investigation about the use of English language by Algerian researchers while writing and publishing their works. The study uses the bibliometric method of research to examine the productivity of researchers from "the laboratory of Water Use Efficiency in Agriculture" at the " National Higher School of Agriculture" during the period 2016/2020. The results show that 4/5 scientists publish their works in English and were referred to at a rate of nearly four citations per article, higher than those published in French. They relied heavily on English-language sources, highlighting their control over high quality English language sources. The subjects of this study work with foreign peers from several countries, most of whom are not Anglophones, nonetheless, it did not affect the pace of production in English, not even the percentage of references used. However, it was observed that they had a tendency to publish in Anglophone journals.
