Students’ Beliefs And Strategies About Writing Skills : The Case Study Of Second Year Licence Students

Abstract

This study explores the beliefs and strategies of Algerian students about their writing skills. To achieve this, data were collected from EFL second year license learners at the Department of English , Blida2 university, using a mixed–method approach that involved both a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview. The responses of 70 second year participants were quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed to identify their writing beliefs and their impact on their writing strategies. Findings revealed different beliefs among participants regarding writing , which, in turn , impacted their writing strategies to some extent . The findings gained from this study are expected to provide insights into the issue and serve as a foundation for further studies under different conditions and in various settings.
